Our Story

It takes just 41 Days to change a life. My family knows that reality firsthand. On Feb. 13, 2021, my husband David walked down the steps of our home and asked me to take him to the ER “because something felt very, very wrong.” 41 days later he was dead. 

It took just 41 days for my life to be shattered. With Dave’s death, every aspect of my life, and the lives of our children, were changed forever. That left me with a question, "how could so much change so quickly?” After all, it was just 41 days.

Now, think of this: if a life can be shattered in 41 days, it can also be restored. And with that simple thought, the ministry of 41 Days was born!

Dave grew up in a single parent household. There was little money, but there was a lot of love. He knew what it was like to struggle, and he knew what it was like to fall through the cracks because you make too much money to qualify for help, but too little to actually handle the emergencies that are sure to come.

He dreamed of being able to walk beside those falling through the same cracks and offer them the helping hand they need and deserve. That is exactly what 41 days plans to do – ease the burdens of those around us and be a light during their darkest days.

That is going to look different depending on who God sends our way. It may mean partnering with a high school guidance counselor to assist a foster child who has aged out of the system before graduation to get a dorm room at college set up or it may mean paying a new widow's bills for the first month until her life insurance or social security checks arrive or it may mean paying for the repairs on the car of a hard working individual who just can’t squeak out enough for those new brakes. We aren't exactly sure what each need will look like, but we are excited to find out!

If there is something that I have learned since Dave’s passing, it is that I am never alone and that nothing, and I mean nothing, is too big for our God to handle. It only takes 41 Days to change a life, let’s use that time to create better days for those around us. Now, won’t you help be the spark that ignites great change?
